John "Cowboy" Clawson
John "Cowboy" Clawson joined the Ship of Fools in November 4th, 2005. His nickname of "Cowboy" was conferred upon him one afternoon while he was absent. Somebody asked where he was, and somebody replied "a western...state", referring to a trip to some state out west (Arizona) he was making to see a friend. This was mis-interpreted as "A Western", and the name quickly materialized. Cowboy continues to bring high energy and a fresh outlook to the Fools.
Frustrated with some of the other Fools constantly making painful jokes about WoW, physics, or other really nerdy topics, John began keeping track of each joke. The Counter, as it came to be known, is a handheld count of how many infractions his fellow improvisationalists (mostly Tripod) have committed. At a later time and date, the Counter can be rolled back only by repaying the Fools with an equally painful joke about probability, aggregate demand, or some similar statistics joke.
The Counter currently stands at: 6 (as of 04.12.07)
Run Play 5
Before warming up at the After Dark Tailgate Party Show, the Fools partook in the games and activities provided at the Co-Rec. One such event was a pickup game of hoops. Not many of the Fools are good at sports, perhaps save Stu. However, during one play, somebody snapped the ball to Cowboy, and he held off 2 defenders with vicious dribbling. Alerting his teammates, he held out one hand and splayed all five fingers, while shouting at them to "Run Play 5". None of the other Fools knew what play Play 5 was, but it continues to be a symbol of improvisation on and off the court.
Homicide is fairly common to the Ship of Fools- a decent number of games are built around death (Chain Murder Mystery or Funeral Quirks for example). However, sometimes in a standard improv scene, somebody needs to leave a trail of bodies. Once at a weekly meeting, John's character needed such an exit, and he did so with impeccable style. He casually somersaulted across the scene, quickly stood up, and proceeded to slit his partner's throat with an improv shiv. This has now become his signature assassination style.
Another common assault technique goes like this: "Yeah, well, how long can you do some action with a PEN stuck in your jugular?"
A memorable Cowboy moment came at the End of Semester Show in December of 2006. This came during a game of Blind Lines. Since it was near Christmas, many Christmas-themed lines were placed in the pile of lines to choose from. When it came time for a round involving Cowboy, the audience suggested that the location of the scene be a sweatshop. During the game Cowboy first established himself as the foreman of the sweatshop.
Cowboy's first blind line: "What child is this!" Cowboy instantly adds, "Seriously these kids need nametags or something!" Hilarity ensues. Cowboy's next blind line: "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!" Without missing a beat, Cowboy adds: "You have to tell them that so they make more toys!" Hilarity Re-ensues.
After much heckling and teasing the previous Treasurer John "Freshman/Tripod" Tubergen, John was elected Treasurer for the 2007-2008 school year.
Winner of the Most Improv-ed Award (2006).
Inventor of Press Quach.

John is a Management Major at Purdue University and hails from Pomona, KS. He is one of the few people left on this earth that enjoys Tab soda, much to the chagrin of fellow Fool Benji "Hallway" Milanowski. He cannot stand V-8 juice in a metal can (seriously- what's with that?). He is a dedicated Big Brother, and is teaching Ryan "T-Rex" Garwood the Spanish language one word at a time.
